The information below is subject to change by the Lenawee County Road Commission. Certain portions of roads or structures may have restrictions other than shown. These roads and structures are posted.

The restrictions, limitations and exceptions presented do not relieve the truck operator’s responsibility of complying with applicable State and Federal laws and local ordinances and permit requirements within villages, cities, and townships of Lenawee County.

Seasonal Weight Restrictions

Seasonal weight restrictions  are OFF as of 7:00 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2025.

Typically, each year in late winter or early spring, LCRC reduces the weight limits on its non-all-seasonal roads as temperatures begin to rise and the ground begins to thaw.

Weight restrictions are usually put in place in February or March. When they are in place trucks and other heavy, commercial equipment is required to carry a reduced load and reduce their speed on the restricted roads.

The weight restrictions help prevent roads from being damaged by heavy trucks and other equipment when the ground under the roads is less stable than during the rest of the year. The ground is less stable because it has begun to thaw after being frozen during the winter but is not yet completely thawed.

Anyone wanting an update on the status of the weight restrictions can contact the LCRC by e-mail or phone at (517) 265-6971.
